Rocking Chairs Handcrafted by Rory Jaros
Rory Jaros' ergonomic rocking chairs are handcrafted and individually fitted. The rocking chairs are crafted of red oak or walnut trees from the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. These rocking chairs will serve everyday needs well.
Jaros has researched, practiced and employs skills threatened with extinction. This process uses simple tools. Rocking chair members are shaped from rivings. Rivings are the strongest unit of wood you can get from a tree.
Each piece is distinctive and so well crafted that it may become a prized heirloom to be handed from one generation to the next. Since the rocking chairs are made to very high standards of quality, they will age beautifully and increase in value.
All red oak or walnut rocking chairs are serialized, signed and dated. Jaros' craft represents an equitable engagement between the land and his work, and reflects the heritage of five generations of craftsmanship.
